re: CDG & cdma2000 1xRTT Release A Sync Channel Progress

Evidently CDG has established a "Sync Channel Team" and is making a dedicated effort to attempt to unlock the Sync Channel impasse.

There is a new 17 slide Powerpoint presentation dated July 11, 2002 called CDG "Sync Channel Team Recommended Single Carrier Solutions (Subject to CDG Membership Approval)" dealing with this on the 3GPP2 FTP site (TSGC folder).

Here are a few slides:

* Introduction

- Several CDG member companies (Operators and Manufacturers) one way or the other, have contributed to the development of these solutions.

- Multi-carrier approach for Sync Channel workaround previously has been addressed

- Initial Single-carrier approach was proposed at June meeting in Chicago

- Modified single-carrier approach will be presented to address issues with initial approach

[skip several slides dealing with technical issues]

* Lab Testing Results

- Following 2G/3G mobiles have passed some aspects of the proposed solution:

Motorola
Nokia
LGE
Qualcomm
Kyocera
Audiovox
Samsung

* Next Steps

- Perform additional testing/verification (Operator lab set-up is recommended)

- Draft a technical paper describing the solution and disseminate to the CDG membership. <<
