Yes - the LinkSys is 802.11b. I've installed one in my home and for a couple of friends. The coverage that you keep hearing for this technology is completely bogus for inside a house - particularly an older home like mine. The range is more like 20 or 30 feet if the signal has to travel thru any walls. I have a bathroom - tile walls/with metal mesh backing - between my linksys and computer - no more that 15 feet between them - and usually can not get a signal.
