Cary - asset allocation, while I think this bear market mania is out of proportion and it will cure itself there's something you can do. One of your hints was quite valuable - "consider bonds". Well, not the average bonds but convertibles and convertible preferred stocks with good yields. There are even some funds in this specialty. And there's one exchange traded fund which is my favourite - it's RENN - Rennaisance Capital Growth & income fund. hope this helps... CROSSY
