This is like blame a bunch of alcoholics for getting drunk when the corner decides to give its liquor away- -knowing the neighbors are all alcoholics. Yeah, maybe the bums should have resisted temptation. And maybe the bartender should have kept control of his stock. Only an idiot could claim not to know the consequences.

Clinton wasn't giving the liquor away, Greenspan was. And he is independent of the President.

And anyways, whatever happened to personal responsibility? If the drunk wants to drink and stagger home, should the bar refuse to serve him? Should the grocery store refuse to sell a six pack to J6P if somebody saw him get a little tipsy last week. Should McDonald's refuse to serve me because I need to lose a few pounds? Should they have a scale at the counter, or measure BMI or fat percentage or some such thing, maybe cholesterol and high blood pressure too, and refuse to serve everyone over a certain threshold, for their own good and the good of those who depend on them?

Should Old Country Buffet narrow the doors at its entrances?

Should sellers of luxury cars deny sales to people who really ought to be saving the money for their kids' education?

Surely we can deal with this through individual personal responsibility and not the clumsy bureaucratic inefficient hand administered by members of public employee unions. Wouldn't you agree, Mr. Moderate?
