Contract Prices of DRAMs Up for First Time in Three Months
July 18, 2002 (SEOUL) -- Contract prices for DRAMs, which have been on a continuous downward trend since the end of March, recovered for the first time in three months on July 16.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Hynix Semiconductor Inc. said they succeeded in raising the value of contract prices with main clients, which include major PC manufacturers.

This includes a 5-15 percent increase in the value of DDR chips.

"The value of DDRs is on a steady increase on the back of increased manufacturing of PCs in preparation for September, when students return to school," a Samsung Electronics official said.
