I guess we have been trying to kill off guerrillas in the Philippines since about 1898. They seem to keep popping up out of those Jungles in one flavor or another.

I remember that the biggest fear about arming the Afghan fighters was that the anti-aircraft missiles we gave them would be used against us. So I guess that our eyes were open at the time to the danger of these people.

Having your clients who are allies become your enemies is as old as History. We were discussing the fact that the Israelis helped the Hamas at the start as a foil against the PLO.
