Interesting. I did not find it dull. Different strokes . . . on this one.

One of the reasons you may consider it dull is the same reason Huntington's Clash of Civilizations book, now on my shelf to be read this summer, might appear dull. They are working at a level of abstraction in which the individual actor is less significant. But Kepel, Huntington for that matter as well, is not cursed with the multiple qualifying phrases disease. Most academics are.
