Another account of that alleged incident:
The warlord had shaved the girls' heads, taken them to a military camp and proceeded to brutally rape them, writes Rashid in his upcoming book, Taliban. As soon as he heard, Mullah Omar rounded up some two dozen of his zealous students. Armed with weapons left over from the struggle against the Soviets, the students attacked the base, freed the girls and then hanged their captors from the barrel of a tank.
Word of the spectacular show of tribal justice spread quickly. A few months later, Mullah Omar was again called to establish order. This time two commanders had captured a boy and were fighting over rights to sodomize him. Several bystanders were killed in the ensuing firefight. It is left to the reader to decide which is more ironic, the Taliban's subsequent treatment of women when they gained power or the restoration of warlord government in Afghanistan. Unless you've got a grudge against pomo, in which case irony is verboten, I guess.

Poor guy, if he was still in power and reading this thread, he could have pick up some good tips on more sophisticated methods of demonizing Muslims.
