I think the general rule of thumb is ... when there are more buyers than sellers the stock price rises ... and conversely ... *when there are more sellers than buyers the stock price falls* Also affecting the price of stock is something called "news" or perhaps you prefer "rumours"(Brit spelling). Good "news" is said to cause the stock prices to rise while bad "news" has been known to have the opposite affect.
