Hi Don: Five (of us) Dellheads dating from 1997 were at the meeting. And Donnie( Venkie) kindly took time off from work to visit with us also. It was the safest place to be in all Texas. Highly secure area( the eyes of Texas are upon you ( hehehehe) . Its late so will keep this short summary. A full complement of Dell executives were there in the first two rows( They werent last year as there was a meeting for then elsewhere) They appeared fit as a fiddle - especially Michael. No surprises in the presentation, beyond what has already been said here and in the news. The future goal is simple, sales and earnings to double but time span not given. That leaves it up to us and the analysts, to work out how soon it may occur <G> Dell participates in fields with potential $800 bil sales so there is room to grow. Our group spent 5 minutes talking to Michael before the meeting, and more than that with Jim S(CFO) after the meeting. Which tells you that they still consider people, customers, shareholders, and one -on-one relationships important. I have been a bit concerned that the size of Dell would distract or diminish Michaels effectiveness. Not to worry, I have been on many teams( at BA etc.) but the Dell team is leaner, meaner, and more dedicated than any I have seen. We did not see any other SI members around, but you may remember Rob ( Robert Williams) who guided the tour group of about 35 through a tour of Metric 12 one year ? He gave us a little rundown on the new construction and expansion and hiring in Austin and all is going well in those areas. Goodbye, Gateway Sig |
