norton has a personal firewall

yeah, they bought AtGuard, my old program, without which whey wouldn't have a product. I am not sure I need it though, as my router has a firewall. It stops anything coming into my computer not asked for by my computer. My one thought is I could get an email which tells my computer to send out info (not a virus). I'm not sure I should care about this. That is the question.

The Norton program includes a cookie "stopper" but I don't want to give them about $80 for the whole program when all I need is the cookie part. Maybe AtGuard will work on XP. It must be eight years old. Anyone know?
