mm, the dollar has fallen sharply and long term interest rates have fallen too. Greenspan has virtually guaranteed low short term rates until capital spending revives. These are powerful ingredients for avoiding a double dip.

I agree with you that technology will remain subdued for another year or so. But technology is not the whole economy. I now think that chances of a double dip are less than 50-50. This may turn out to be the mildest recession we have ever had with only a single quarter of negative growth, though the recovery will be pretty sluggish.
