Sector Watch: Semiconductor

Despite the overall market weakness, the sector has bucked the trend and pushed firmly into positive territory. Pacing the way are: BRCM +6.9%, XLNX +2.9%, ALTR +2.7%, AMD +1.9%, TXN +2.4% and TER +1.8%. Weak links include MU -2.8% and MOT -0.6%. The semi HOLDRs has slipped off its high but if it continues to hold above support at 29.65/29.55 there is potential for another push Next short term resistances are at 30.50 and 31. A failure at intraday support argues for a run at the early lows.
