Why would a retailer want to put a Dell Cartridge in their store when Dell is a DIRECT COMPETITOR?

If there's money to be made (that is, if Dell were to sell enough printers), they'll sell them. HP and Compaq PCs are competitors to their in-house models (at CompUSA, for example), but they still sell those.

If Dell printers were to take off, the stores would be losing money by not selling the cartridges, since their sales of the cartridges for other printers would start declining. (or not grow as quickly).

There's very little religion in retail (actually, the religion is $).
