Hi - I don't expect anything to come roaring back after a roasting and toasting like this. You are focusing (accurately, I believe) on all the main macro issues, political and economic.

But my concern is a market where the quieter corners hold the value small and mid-caps that have kept me far, far ahead of the market indexes the past several years. Once the dust settles, I think that quiet corner will be there to work in again. You certainly made the right choice finding a different niche to work in until we get back to that point.

Panics are either followed by V-shaped bounces or gradual consolidations as confidence recovers (much longer, slower and flatter of course). My guess is the latter will slowly emerge once the last of the panic selling is cleansed out of the system early next week.

At that point, what Bush and Greenspan do will have as much to do with my work as the price of a house in Seattle does for yours....

Regards to your better half too, tell her not to work so hard.
