Limtex - just for you... Went by the local Sprint store. I posted about talking with the new store manager a couple of weeks ago. This time watched as a sales person was completing a sale and then asked him about when 1X data phones, promos, etc. was coming. He first said August and seemed a little hesitant to get more specific. When I pressed him a little more and he said he guessed the first week of August. He then added they just had their training this week and he had a smile on his face. Kind of a "and it was cool"-type smile. Also, the sale I watched him complete was interesting. An elderly woman was the customer. After he finished the paperwork she asked about a different calling plan than the one she got and why would she need it. The one she got was a regional plan, covering just CA and NV, and was priced at $34.99. The one she was asking about was the national plan, The salesman explained the difference and said she could change any month she wanted to. What caught my attention was that on the PCS conference call management talked about how they were going to start competing with the "lower cost" carriers (Cingular, Voicestream) with localized plans. It looks like it is already happening in CA.
