Yes, I'm leaning toward the Sony, but not ready to buy this version. I'd like to see an even wider zoom on it, though the f/2 maximum aperture is dynamite as is. Of course less of a shutter lag is a must, and better burst shooting capability would not hurt.
I think that the Olympus 3XXX & 4XXX series are the only digital's with faster lens (f 1.8).
The size is mostly due to the 5X optics.
I think Sony attempted to market a digital body that would utilize removable lens, but discontinued.
This 707 represents a interesting twist.
BTW, looked closer at the Steve Digicam site and realised the drop down menue to access reviews and so forth. Very comprehensive approach. the review on the EOS 1D cites that the speed is due to the AF system which was taken from the D-1v, also mentions that Cannon makes 3,000/month of the EOS 1-D.
One thing you can bet on is this market will continue to inovate.
It will be interesting to see how the future evolves.
