thx alot for connecting my "missing dots". So this ASIC vs. FPGA/PLD equation seems to be yet another moving target. Hmmm where PLD share the convenience of Moore's Law and ASICs not to the same extent. I do recall ASICs usually being cheaper to produce. Simtek (SRAM.OB) offers services for conversion of PLDs to ASICs with a subsidiary they acquired in recent years. And yes, on FPGAs, my favourite stock is Actel (ACTL) vs the rest (XLNX, ALTR, LSCC) but right now I don't have a position...
