George, I was not speaking to just terrorism alone. I was talking in more broader terms of personal freedom, both political and economic etc. which indeed are lofty ideals in the American society which they are constantly striving to achieve. Also note that American foreign policy has and continues to pursue narrow interests and if I understand you correctly that the US policy needs to be broadened to bring out the lofty ideals of the US way of life. If that is correct then I agree with you.

The problems arise when the US starts to take sides on a issue of global concern. We can see the results of their efforts on the India-Pakistan issue and the Israeli-Palestenian issue. Two different approaches by the US, two different results.
