if I understand you correctly that the US policy needs to be broadened to bring out the lofty ideals of the US way of life. If that is correct then I agree with you.

Yes, that is essentially what I am saying.

And yes, I believe some of our problems are a result of NOT applying these principles consistently and not very often making the connection between our actions and our principles.

The FIRST step is to explicitly state our principles.
