Israel has threatened to attack military targets in Syria the next time Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militia in southern Lebanon, strikes its territory.

The last two words being the key. Israel has always had a liberal definition of "its territory". No doubt, they are including Shebaa Farms, the Golan Heights, and perhaps even Southern Lebanon in this category. This is all just setting the stage for the regional war Israel has planned for when the U.S. strikes Iraq.
