". . . .I also use a Mac sometimes at work. Even if I was to ignore the fact that it crashes all the time,. . . "
You've made this statement several times before and not been called on it, so I will. Just which version of the Mac OS are you using?
I've been a Mac user for over 10 years and never experienced the instability you allege. Even the early versions of OS 7.5 weren't that bad. I've been using OS 7.6.1 for a couple of months and it's been almost unflappable.
A month or so ago over on the new.com site, a reporter interviewed the CEO of Gateway. The CEO complained that Windows users spent, on average, 27% of their time fiddling with their OS. I found that statistic startling since, like most Mac loyalists, I'd had it drummed into my head that the Mac was less stable than Windows, more crash prone, etc., etc., ad nauseum. Turns out that's the exact opposite of the truth.
Numerous studies have show the Mac is more reliable than a PC, workers who use a Mac are more productive than those who use a PC, and the overall cost of ownership for a Mac is less despite the fact we tend to pay more for software.
There's an excellent link to an editorial in the previous post that you ought to review. It's a long read but well worth the effort.
No question Apple has some more hurdles ahead. But I don't think the company's recovery plan is "too little, too late."
