Sorry, I was relating the compare note about file irnsystem.dat to the other error line.
I may have seen this one as well when I was using Backup Exec. There is no file named "?". The "?" is a wildname that could stand for any legal character. Did you ever get this message before and how long have you been using Backup Exec? Why I ask is that when I used it, it was originally set up perfectly, and did everything it was supposed to for a period of time. After, it became quirky. Sometimes, it would back up 75% of the files in some directories but not all. Then it would go back to normal.
I think you would need to find out what the "?" is referring to. Have you referred to the log files that Backup Exec produces.? Sometimes there is additional information that is more detailed..
There were times when there were error messages similar (or identical) to yours and then they would go away.
I am now using Arcserve and find it much better (still not perfect though). "Open File Agent" features are extensions to the orginal backup product. For example, if you are using an Oracle database and SQL Server as another database product, you will have to buy 2 open file agent products that will allow you to back up "live" databases.
Even if you use a simple product like MS Access, I believe that you will need an open file agent or, what a lot of people do, make sure the files are closed before backup.
