Doren, there's the small issue of backward compatibility. If Apple released a new x86-based Macintosh that only ran its own software, and maybe Windows software in a compatibility layer, do you really think that would succeed in the marketplace? Why would somebody buy that instead of a Dell machine or PowerPC-based Macintosh?
