Mary, as you and I and many who follow this thread know, people who get sued get charged with lots of stuff which, to be kind, is nothing more than wishful thinking. Yes, I think it was a low blow by the prosecutor to play the 911 race card, but keep in mind Elgindy hasn't officially been charged with any related crimes and therefore any potential jury will likely be screened for anyone who might have been prejudiced by hearing of them.
As for the court of public opinion, of those who knew of Elgindy prior to his arrest, I highly doubt the 911 charges have swayed their opinion of him. Rather, I think what bothers people (myself included) is what he's actually charged with. Of those who first learned of Elgindy from news reports (the ones most likely to be prejudiced), I highly doubt they've given him any further thought. And if so... Elgindy has been sued by his mother, his insurance company, business associates, publicly traded (albeit often scam) companies, and now the government. He's also spent time in prison. So, I don't think it unrealistic to say that the government 911 allegations are likely only icing on the cake to any new Elgindy detractors.
