wr--WCOM being able to cut prices on services because they don't have to worry about paying back much of their debt certainly does worry me. Any competitor should also be worried. This is the largest bankruptcy in the history of the world. If WCOM had less than one percent market share, I wouldn't worry about the effects of setting aside debt temporarily. But this is really different. Here's a company with a major position in many different markets, in effect able to drive SMALLER companies out of business at a time when there's a big surplus of capacity.

Yes, I worry about this, and I hope the FCC doesn't get too enthusiastic about preserving big business and corporate leaders with questionable ethics at the expense of smaller, more entrepreneurial companies. Even though bankruptcy law probably allows setting aside debt during reorganization, I doubt that a court would be very sympathetic to price cutting that would run other smaller, better managed companies out of business. At least I hope so.
