The magnitude of the drop in the benchmark Standard & Poor's 500 index since its peak in March 2000 now exceeds the rate of decline in the last long-running bear market of 1974.
(according to the Chicago Tribune).

And 1975 turned out to be a helluva long term entry point for stocks.
