(failing to follow up with an invasion of Britain after Dunkirk
Hitler did intend to invade Britain. Remember Sealion? He didn't have the means. The German navy could not expect to defeat the Royal Navy in a toe-to-toe confrontation. And, even without that problem, Hitler HAD to have control of the air over the Channel and a large chunk of Britain. He never got it. That was initially what the Battle of Britain was about. (Later, after Hitler gave up the idea of a near-term invasion, he hoped to bomb Britain into submission by bombing its cities. That obviously didn't quite work either. Just pissed the Brits off even more.)

and then the invasion of Russia)
Now THAT was true stupidity. At least doing it before Britain was defeated. He VOLUNTARILY started Germany's worst nightmare- -a two-front war.

And then, to top it off, in the supreme act of stupidity he DECLARED WAR on the United States after Pearl Harbor- -when the treaty with Japan did not require him to! (He hoped to get Japan to declare war on Russia and draw troops off of Germany's Eastern Front. Japan, being smarter, never obliged.)

Adolph Hitler was the best General the Allies had.
