thecow, well I've been to Pitstop and Gateway and I still have no audio. I get audio from the CDR through headphones but I can't get any sound through the PC, wav, mp3 etc. I've checked and rechecked my speaker cables, wiggled the sound card etc. I even tried a different set of speakers. I haven't tried reinstalling the sound card drivers. I did run DrWatson and it indicates, "(unknown) has altered windows system files" would this mean reinstalling windows and(gasp)customizing settings all over again, might help? Thanks again for all your help fishweed
