thecow, well I've been to Pitstop and Gateway and I still have no audio. I get audio from the CDR through headphones but I can't get any sound through the PC, wav, mp3 etc. I've checked and rechecked my speaker cables, wiggled the sound card etc. I even tried a different set of speakers. I haven't tried reinstalling the sound card drivers.

I did run DrWatson and it indicates, "(unknown) has altered windows system files" would this mean reinstalling windows and(gasp)customizing settings all over again, might help?

Thanks again for all your help
