Some info from Aces BBS. There was an article posted on Aces on potential strategies of Intel regarding x86-64, some early attempts to extend it. This is the article: aceshardware.com Some of the info comes from a resume of Andy Glew, who used to work for Intel: geocities.com This guy contributes to comp.arch newsgroup. Today, he posted that he got a job at AMD: groups.google.com he says: I hope that, at AMD, I will be able to be part of a team building microprocessors that will be just as successful, financially, as the processors I have worked on in the past, most notably the Intel P6.
