The big difference between Apple and Sun is that Sun is gaining share in its core market, whereas Apple's core market has evaporated (I think they are about 3.5% of PCs now?).

Like I said, if Unix gets replaced by Intel-based servers long term, then Sun is toast. On the other hand, if that doesn't happen and Unix remains the preferred missions critical high end server option, Sun will do very well.

The gross margin comment was just a piece of evidence that Sun still has good technology that customers are willing to pay a premium for - nothing more or less. And 1x sales for a tech company with 40% gross margins is/was uncommon.
