I agree with most of what you say, but I still feel that no windoze users are going to "switch" and purchase a (curently hypothetical) Apple computer that "probably runs windoze natively," or that runs a windoze emulation (read "slow"). If Apple wants to make a windoze compatible computer, it has to work as well as the PC clones, otherwise it becomes a novelty that is attractive to Apple owners, but not to PC owners (entices switching in the wrong direction.) Also, the real money is in software, so one would expect Apple to want to make OSX for Intel (et al) cpu's. But then why buy Apple hardware? A I said, Apple would become another Be and we all know what happened to them.
If, as you say, Apple can make proprietary hardware that is wedded to OSX, that would be an escape route, even a route to the promised land, But I still maintain that OSX would have to work as well on intel (et al) as Windoze and that OSX coupled with Apple hardware would work even better than windoze coupled with intel (et al). And, of course, OSX on Apple would have to work better than windoze on Apple.
