---| I think they already announced a qtr on 4/23/97. Its at EDGAR web site.

Right - so it's due for another announcement right? I wanted to know when.

I don't think that DVCPro has what it takes to displace motion-JPG.

DVCPro is a compressed 4:1:1 standard. As I recall, there's a fixed 5X compression - factoring in the 4:1:1'edness and that's a 10 to 1 compression. On paper, this is pales in comparison to mjpg cards which can now routinely handle 2:1.

In practice, I shot some DVCPro not long ago and I thought it absolutely sucked. Noone that I know of with "broadcast quality" standards would tolerate the artifacting in the chroma.

DVCPro is "sold" as a news gathering format. My eyes tell me it is barely acceptable for even that.

Editing MPG is problematic. I agree with you that MPG's role is better used as a delivery format, and not as an editing format.

How this relates to TRUV is anyone's guess - I'm just flapping at the jaw.

Truevision must have an entirely non-competent investor relations organization and an equally ineffective corporate marketing group. As a result, this stock is likely to sit in the 2's even if the company has the good news to go higher because, frankly, they don't seem to want anyone to know they're in business.
