Did you see the earlier interview with Lazlo Biryini (sp?) by Consuelo Mack? He has completed a study of the effectiveness of various market indicators to predict bottoms. Basically none work consistently except the ratio of amateur-to-professional shorts. When amateurs exceed pros it has "always" marked a bottom in the past. They said (not verified) that amateurs now exceed pros by 1%. Or words to that effect.
