Then additional non-1X channel cards would be the cheapest path.. But, that is not the reason PCS is going 1X! They are going 1X to launch a packet data network. Along with this all packet data network will come their Push to Chat (BTW Nextel has a trademark on the term Push to Talk) product. Which requires installing new switch infrastructure! Make no mistake about it. PCS's drive for a total 1X packet network is born in their P-T-C product PCSTEL
