The aid to Egypt is like part of the aid to Israel. A reward for agreeing to peace and an incentive to continue to agree.

I think it serves some good purpose, but I could easily argue against it. If its a reward for a one time agreement how come the reward is not one time but billions every year? If its an incentive not to be violent isn't that like paying bribes or tribute?

Simply because Israel is our ally is not a valid reason for continued US aid when they are financially capable themselves. Using your analogy the US should be getting aid from Israel; after all look at the strength and size of our enemies and potential enemies: China, Korea, Iraq, Iran, etc., etc.

None of our enemies or potential enemies have or have had any reasonable chance of over running us. None of them share a common border, or poses the military power to seriously threaten us at least not without the use of nukes.

When other US allies have been threatened or attacked we have sent our soldiers over. We still have soldiers in Europe and Korea for example. With Israel we let them to the fighting we just help them pay for the equipment.
