Stock-based compensation expense doubled sequentially to 3% of revenues. Must be due to employees exercising stock options and selling the underlying stock. The ugly part of options is that it increases expenses as they are exercised and the stock sold. If many employees exercise the options and sell at the same time, the expense would shoot up dramatically and effect a significant drop in earnings just as the company needs to show improved earnings.
