REDMOND, Wash., July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In a position shift for the worldwide integrated collaborative environments (ICEs) industry, Microsoft(R) Exchange Server has leaped past IBM Corp. as the leader, according to a new International Data Corp. (IDC) study, "Worldwide Integrated Collaborative Environments Forecast and Analysis, 2002-2006: How Vendors Can Keep the ICE Flowing."

IDC's study on the $1.57 billion worldwide ICE industry is the latest to recognize Microsoft Exchange Server as the leader in worldwide messaging applications. The study says Microsoft Exchange Server software grew its user install base 30.4 percent in 2001, giving it a leading install base of 39.4 percent.
