Syria, Iran, Iraq et al supplying Hamas at the front lines?

You mean Hizbullah, I presume? Both Iran and Syria have been supplying Hizbullah, big-time. Iran can do so from safety -- we don't want to alienate the people, who are sick of the ayatollahs, and it's a BIG country besides. But Syria is going to find itself in real hot water. Looks like Boy Assad is simply not bright enough to be cautious.

Your Vietnam scenario seems highly unlikely to me. It won't be American troops taking down Hizbullah and Assad, it will be Israeli ones.
