The problem with BGR is that he was condescending and conceited throughout the late 90's extolling the New Economy, tech stocks, NASDAQ, DCA buy-and-hold method over any other strategy and also people who questioned the valuations. Whenever some one talked about a contrarian strategy which made money he would bring up an academic paper or so saying that the return was temporary or flawed or it was a gambler who got lucky or you should compare risk-adjusted returns etc. He also used to irritate posters by saying that they did not understand basic probability thoery etc. From his posting one was given to believe he is an astute academecian who knows-it-all about the thoery of markets and returns. But now we know he cannot do a simple IRR computation or even be smart enough to look at a correct DCA chart and recognize his folly.

In a way he has capitulated to the strategies espoused in this thread by buying PUTS on the NASDAQ and SP500 if you were to believe his recent posts. Who knows he may even be a "closet-holder" of gold or bear funds <g>

Anyway, whatever happened to the other big mouth of the New Economy - Mr. PaperChase.
