The US recognized that Soviet control of the Middle East oil would be catastrophic, so they aligned themselves with Israel which was and is the only dependable ally and Democratic country in the region.

Actually, the US didn't really ally itself with Israel until after the 1967 war. We didn't supply Israel with any arms before that. The Israelis fought that war with French jets. After 1967, Israel not only looked like a stronger ally, but the Arabs convinced themselves, falsely, that they had only lost the war because the US had helped Israel. Thus they became hostile to us. This helped propel us into alliance with Israel.
