Ish, I have never heard of the peacock bass, but I am not much of a fisherman. They don't like any bait that I have touched, so my catching one is very rare. The best fishing trip I was on was in Copano Bay close to Rockport, Texas. A friend of the family and I went out in one boat, and every one else were in another. We separated out in the bay, and my friend, and I, couldn't get a nibble. He looked up and saw a shrimper coming into port from the Gulf, and we pulled along side. It is illegal to sell shrimp from the boat, but we should the captain a bottle of Jack Daniels black label, and opened up a 30 gallon Igloo. Somehow, the captain had the bottle in his hand, and we had a cooler full of fresh shrimp. We went back to the house on the canal, and by the time the others came in, we had pulled the crab traps, were boiling crabs, and popping the heads off the shrimp. They only had about 3 keepers on their boat.
