I'm not good at candlestick interpretation but we can do it in bigcharts back to 1970 using parameters: custom time frame and selecting candlesticks. My recollection must be faulty, as I don't see any hammers in summer and fall of 1987.. The market was mostly in a big rise until the last couple of weeks prior to the crash, hence no hammers at that time. But I do notice what appear to be a good many hammers and hanging men during the sharp selloff in QQQ in 2000. Can you take a look and confirm this? Also, what is the name for the opposite of a hammer, when the thick part of the candlestick points down?
