Rates fell like a rock in 1982 and so did the market.

FED raised the discount rate in Oct 1931 in order to forestall the presumed movement of gold out of the country. It was the proverbial final straw that broke the market's back.

The current debt burden is no different than it was 10 years ago.

Bridgewater is wrong about what defines a depression. A depression is something elected by officials trying to avoid a recession, and reinforced by people believing that officials know what they are doing. We may very well be headed for depression, but it will be at the insistence of the people.
