He obviously didn't share the belief of the mainstream. His flyers listed specialists as well as case studies to support his belief.

As to why he did what he did, that's a good question, given that the flyers had little to do with botany, his area of expertise. He claims it was God's will (and I believe him), but apparently God had more in store for him than it seemed.

As for the oranges, no, none were thrown. ;-) It was actually a prayer rally, with us supporters sitting within a large circle, surrounded by pro-homosexuality activists holding signs. No violence, not even any shouting. Then some of us walked through campus singing hymns, while others stayed behind and had fruitful (no pun intended) conversations with the activists.

Given how peaceful it was, we might as well have bought and peeled oranges for each other ... ;-)
