you'd think.

but then, you'd think that it would be a no-brainer to throw a few resources at Afghanistan these days, if only to keep it out of the news and postpone any serious crisis there until after Iraq has been dealt with.

and you'd think it would make sense to avoid gratuitously pissing off Europe and the UN crowd with stuff like the ICC/peacekeeping brouhaha, so as to create some kind of reservoir of good feeling that could be drawn down on in putting together and legitimating an invasion.

and you'd think it would be a good idea to send some goodies Pakistan's way, in order to diminish the domestic resistance Musharraf faces in following our orders on everything from al Qaeda and the Taliban to Kashmir.
