AMD joins BAPCo

anandtech.com

I just got off the phone with one of my contacts at AMD and it seems as if AMD has finally joined BAPCo, the developers of SYSMark 2002. AMD does have some issues with SYSMark 2002 and they hope by joining BAPCo they will be able to provide positive input into the design of the benchmark to make it more accurate for future revisions.

It will be very interesting to see how SYSMark evolves now that AMD has a part in its development and thus its future. I would caution BAPCo to handle the AMD situation very delicately as their dealings with AMD could either add an infinite amount of credibility to their efforts or, on the other extreme, ruin SYSMark as a benchmark. I'll keep a close eye on this situation to see how things go; it is about time that AMD took a role, now it's up to BAPCo to make sure that AMD's role is allowed to be an active one.
