Tom, >>Was curious if you've been seeing the retiree's you've mentioned in the past ever go into capital preservation mode?

I was telling my retired friends in 1999 about the bubble and what I thought was going to happen. Had one friend repositioned himself and is ok. He is retired and had two choices for his pension income - a stock option and a conservative option. One of my friends is a retired banker and has been in conservative stuff during the bubble and beyond - AAA bonds.

Early this year one of my friends bailed into guaranteed government bonds. During the last couple of months the rest of my friends are starting to get the message, but as far as I know only one of them bailed a couple of weeks ago. The rest are worried. <g>

Have one friend that was in janus and junk like that. He went to his broker early last year and they re-arranged his assets into a 5 year plan. This plan has continued to be a disaster. The idiot broker put him in 70% stocks and the guy is retired and is in his late 60's - unbelievable. <g>
