jp, I do want to apologize for taking so long to answer your post. I have a young teenager and a job that takes most of my time, so even though I try to keep up with posts, some of them are sweet, thoughtful words I look forward to adding my own to, and some are fires to try to put out, and sometimes I need to deal with the emergencies first. I am just now working my way through some posts I got yesterday.
I am getting the idea that you are innocent from a couple of your other posts, but I don't really know very much about you. Is there anything you want to share about yourself? You don't have to!! You sound like you have some good stories you could tell, like how you ended up living on the streets of San Francisco and somehow pulled yourself up to a place where investing in the stock market is something you do.
About those peaches, the reason people demand totally round, large, perfect fruit is because the marketing councils for each variety have educated them to demand that kind. In California, there is a minimum size standard for peaches, plums, etc., and the ones that fail cannot be sold. It used to be that they were discarded, tons of useful, nourishing, fruit, but now I believe they are donated to homeless organizations. The organic farmers are now trying to educate the public to the fact that a slightly misshapen fruit, or one that a sweet tweety bird took a little tiny bite out of, is actually a healthier, more delicious thing to eat. We will see, I guess, how that all turns out.
Almost everyone calls me cgb, but I really like Christine better. Incidentally, are you related to e.e. cummings? |
