What are you doing here after mercilessly dissing this thread?

Carranza has assured me that earnings would be splendiferous so I'm not worried.

You've spent so much time busily inhaling ethanol and its fumes on the Dark Side that even Rysavy's Brown stuff now looks meritorious to you. Slowly shake yourself out of your delirium and read the only thing I've had to say about earnings:

Qv, it seems to me inevitable that the total amount of CDMA sets to be sold in '02 has to be brought down from 85 million. If lesser figures are not forecast today, the basis for doing so will have to be utterly convincing. Otherwise, we will be hammered tomorrow. This is a merciless market with no room for error.

The reduction from 85 million, or the credibility of the manner in which the 85 million figure is maintained, will naturally affect the stock price going forward. We may have earnings slightly ahead of expectations, but this has already been priced into the stock by virtue of the optimistic and credible preannouncement. The market will therefore pay much more attention to future prospects than anything else. The guidance will influence market action tomorrow and for the rest of the week much more than beating earnings forecasts for the quarter by a penny or two.

The UBS report on the Moderated thread is well done and convincing.
